‘Antinomies’ by Helen Winthorpe Kendrick: Thursday 4th May – Wednesday 31st May 2017

Greenfield Arts invites you and the public to the preview of our latest exhibition by Helen Winthorpe Kendrick on Wednesday 3rd May 6pm to 8pm, with an artist talk at 6:30pm.

Antinomy is a contradiction between principles or conclusions that seem equally necessary and reasonable; a paradox. Life is full of contraries, contradictions, contrasts and compliments. They can be at odds with one another or enhance each other. This exhibition will explore a range of such juxtapositions and bring them together in one place. Opposites will be compared and contrasted, placing them next to each other for impact.

Helen will be in attendance at the preview event with artworks for sale throughout the exhibition. The evening will also include an artist talk at 6:30pm.

Alongside the gallery programme we also offer the latest in our Craft Programme, which is our home-grown programme of cabinet displays, offering artists the opportunity to display their craft and design work. It is specifically suitable to work which isn't always suitable for a large gallery space, and gives artists the chance to promote their work and skills in a more flexible way.

Tilly Shaw and Peter Holmes will be the next artists to exhibit their work in this brilliant programme. Tilly works with driftwood creating beautiful pieces of art, remarking that ‘beaches along the North East Coast line are desolate and remote, so driftwood that is wave rolled, shaped and smoothed by the sea and sand is plentiful if you know where to go.’ Where as Peter offers magical ceramic pieces of art, some of which have been on display in our recent Open Art exhibition, offering an insight into his historical and mythological Green Men series.
