Greenfield Students Look to the Future

Year Ten Students from Greenfield Community College have recently spent a fun day building their employability skills and finding out about the world of work.

Over the course of a busy Rights Respecting Day, students planned out their future pathways, drafted CVs and letters of application for their ideal jobs, and worked with staff from Barclays to learn about interview skills and preparation, picking up some top tips along the way.

Students also got the chance to visit an in house Careers Fair and talk to a wide range of employers and education providers, including the RAF, the Royal Marines, Saks Hairdressing and Lloyds Bank. Aldi brought along a can stacking challenge which tested speed and accuracy, complete with a Top Gear style leader board – things got very competitive here! Local colleges and sixth forms were able to advise students on the choices open to them and were impressed with the range of questions that they were asked.

At the end of the day students found themselves with a packed folder of evidence for their Employability Skills Certificate and with a much clearer picture of what their future might hold.
