Year 9 student, Harley from Greenfield Community College, has been recognised for his valuable contribution to the local community at the recent SKYPAN Awards.

Harley has been an outstanding student at Greenfield, Executive Headteacher David Priestley, who attended the event, was full of praise as he spoke about some of his achievements “This is a smart young person with an outstanding attendance record who is never late, he has shown a can-do attitude from day one, he is respectful not only to teachers, but to fellow students as well as showing concern for others”, said Mr Priestley.

Harley was also recognised for his contribution outside school, this is displayed in his role as a Durham Police Cadet.   He attends training once a week and is a regular at community events such as BikeWise and Armed Forces Day.  This year Harley was also named ‘Police Cadet of the Year’, an excellent achievement.

Harley was amongst a number of young people who received awards for their outstanding contribution to the community.  Very well done to Harley and all the award winners who have made such a difference in the community.  Executive Headteacher David Priestley was delighted to be invited to award one of the prizes as well as our Director of Greenfield Arts, Katy Milne.  Katy said “it was such a great evening that recognised and celebrated young people’s achievements. It was an honour to be there and hear the fantastic achievements from young people across Shildon”.
