Katy Milne, Director at Greenfield Arts with Lorraine Coghill, Science Outreach Coordinator at Durham University and Ogden regional representative, were invited to share work at this year’s conference held by the NCCPE (National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement).

The prestigious conference ‘Engage 2019’ provided a platform for discussion amongst academics and public engagement associates to explore the importance of engagement in education and the wider community.

The theme of the conference was disruption.  The conference asked powerful questions about change and what type of change we want to see as public engagement professionals.  The conference was a call to action and allowed for empowering and stimulating debate.

Katy spoke about her vast experience as a creative practitioner who’s key motivation and inspiration is collaborating with people to provide creative opportunities to explore, express and create.

Katy and Lorraine shared examples and case studies of their practice at the conference exploring approaches that encourage and enable a participant led approach.  Katy was delighted to be invited and to work alongside Lorraine from Durham University.  The conference was full of inspiring delegates who believe in the power of people.

This NCCPE conference took place in Bristol and is NCCPE’s annual conference exploring public engagement.  Thank you to organisers, inspirational speakers and workshop leaders and for a stimulating conference event.
