Greenfield Arts are a Creative Community

Greenfield Arts were delighted to welcome artists and members of the community to their recent ‘Creative Community’ event.  The evening offered the opportunity to preview the inspirational ‘A Creative Life’ exhibition and join artists to celebrate and explore what creative community means.

The event was a great success and offered a range of creative opportunities engaging those who attended with their creativity and providing an opportunity to express themselves.  Artist Nic Golightly was on hand to share a sense place and help discover and map out the landmarks in Newton Aycliffe and Shildon that brought about a sense of community and encouraged everyone to share special memories.

Artist and filmmaker Laura Degnan brought people together to make an original stop motion animation that captured a love of Greenfield Arts and the wider community – an amazing feat in the time available!  Watch this space for the final cut.

Thank you to all who came along and made the evening such a special occasion. It was lovely to see people come together creatively, reminding us all how important a sense of community can be and how we can express ourselves.

Katy Milne, Director of Arts and Creativity at Greenfield Arts said “We are privileged to work with such extraordinary people and work in such amazing communities.  We are heading towards our 20th anniversary and a year of celebrations in 2020 to celebrate the creativity across the community.”

‘A Creative Life’ runs from Thursday 2nd May – Wednesday 26th June in The Greenfield Gallery. This wonderful collection of work showcases creations from people who work at Greenfield and is a must see.
