Cree Welcomes ‘Men Who Care’ to Greenfield

posted 23 Aug 2019, 05:46 by Liam Spensley

The Greenfield Arts Men’s Cree group were delighted to welcome visitors from East Lancaster recently and enjoy the opportunity to share experiences through the vehicle of Greenfield’s latest exhibition ‘Man-Made’, created in collaboration with artist Richard Bliss.

‘The Men Who Care’ from East Lancaster were invited to Greenfield Arts to see the exhibition ‘Man-Made’ which featured work they had created exploring their daily experiences as men who care for others.  The visit allowed ‘Men Who Care’ and Greenfield Arts Men’s Cree to work with artists William Titley and Richard Bliss, explore and discuss their ideas about masculinity and share their experiences of using arts to express important ideas that matter to them.

Katy Milne, Director of Creativity at Greenfield Arts, was delighted that with support from Lubaina Himid (Turner Prize Winner 2017) and artists Richard Bliss and William Titley, we were able to facilitate this get-together. “Men from two different areas, one in the north east and one in the north west were able to come together, engage in meaningful discussion and share in respect for each others achievements.  We are thrilled to have collaborated with artist Richard Bliss who has produced this exhibition as it opens up important discussion about gender stereotypes and the changing nature of masculinity helping us think about new ways of being and about kindness.”

The Men’s Cree continues to meet Mondays 10:30 – 12:30 and get involved in a range of projects and activity.

The Greenfield Gallery is open from 10:00 – 21:00 Monday – Thursday and Fridays 10:00 – 16:00, please contact our friendly team at Greenfield Arts for more information on 01325 379048 or email greenfield-arts@co.uk.
